What is the KidneyGuide?
What happens when your kidneys stop working? Your doctor will then discuss with you when dialysis or transplantation is needed, and which treatments are suitable for you. Ultimately, you decide for yourself which treatment you choose. The KidneyGuide helps you with this.
The KidneyGuide contains over 1.000 video’s of people who have already made their choice for a renal replacement treatment. They talk about their experiences with hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplantation and conservative care. They talk about the influence of their treatment on (19 aspects of) their daily life.
After visiting the KidneyGuide you will have a more complete picture of what a specific treatment would mean for you, and you can discuss your questions and ideas with your nephrologist and other healthcare professionals.
At the top right of every page you will see a light blue button that says 'tutorial KidneyGuide'. If you click on this button, you will be explained how to use the page you're on.
The KidneyGuide is freely accessible. You don't have to register as a user.
However, registration can be useful. You can then save your favorite video's and make notes on them, and you can continue (on a subsequent visit) where you left off last time.

Topics and treatments
Click on 'Topics and treatments’ to go to the page where you select the 'topics' and 'treatments' that are of interest to you. You will also reach this page by clicking on 'Start the Kidney Guide' at the bottom left of your screen.

Animations
Click on ‘Animations’ to find a page where all treatments are explained. The explanation is done through animations.

Keywords
Click on 'Keywords' to find all keywords referring to videos from The KidneyGuide. When you click on a keyword, you get an overview of all the videos that contain this keyword.

Start KidneyGuide
Click on 'Start The KidneyGuide' to start the program. You will first come to a page where you make a selection of 'topics' and 'treatments' you are interested in. Once you have done this, you are ready to start.
